Earlier yesterday 15/03/2021 the HELB came through on their social media page and twitted that they received the Financial year 2020/21 Quarter three Capitation of Ksh. 2.8 Billion from the National Treasury and the pending student loan payments will be addressed and to be concluded by Thursday 18th March 2021.

This came after chaos arose on social media about the starving of University students. Students came out in numbers seeking the government to facilitate its disbursement. Delayed HELB Loans has seen some failing to report to school since some of them depend on it.
On the other hand, the High Education Loans Board (Helb) proposed that all First Year students in institutions of higher learning in the country be given loans to buy laptops.
The Chief Executive Officer Charles Ringera said that will address inequality among students witnessed since the e-learning platform introduced in various learning institutions.
He said students from poor families were disadvantaged when it came to e-learning.
He was making a presentation during the board’s 2021 universities consultative forum in Mombasa.
