Lent is a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter.
It is the period of forty days which comes before Easter in the christian calendar.

Yesterday; 17th of February 2020 Christians world wide marked the day by having mass services on different holy grounds.

By observing the 40 days of Lent, Christians replicate Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and withdrawal into the desert for 40 days. On Ash Wednesday Wednesday, Good Friday and all Fridays of lent season; every responsible christian must abstain from consuming meat. It is also very important to fast on Ash Wednesday and it’s Friday.

The Lent session is usually practised by Christians of Roman Catholic and Anglican denomination. It is a special time of self- reflection and faith, practicing prayer and giving up pleasurable things.

The act of giving up pleasurable things, depends on the person observing Lent. It is always challenging but self – discipline is the key.

During Easter celebrations, after Lent; the pleasurable things that were abstained are now given back to the church with the aim of helping the needy society.
