Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli has maintained that he is madly in love with his younger wife, Mary Kilobi, and nothing can change that.
Last weekend, Mary and Atwoli were in Watamu, Kilifi county, to celebrate his birthday as he was turning 71.
Unsubstantiated reports have been going around the internet and various social media platforms suggesting that the COTU secretary Francis Atwoli has gone to marry a 23 year old Muslim lady while celebrating his birthday at the same time.
Atwoli who was first elected to his helm of COTU in 2001 “quietly” got married to a 23 years old Muslim girl over the weekend making her wife number four.
However the veteran’s post on twitter has turned things around when he stated this ” May I take this opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU for all you warm birthday wishes. Sincere gratitude to my wife Mary Atwoli, waziri @EugeneWamalwa, and my son Philipo @themainpoacher who took on me on a hatch trip around the Indian ocean”
As it has been reported by Tuko, Atwoli dismissed the rumours going round, saying there is no problem marrying another woman. He said if has to would, then he would do it publicly. “That is a lazy rumour from some idle Kenyan. I was at the coast with my wife Mary (Kilobi Atwoli). In any case, there is no problem in marrying but if I have to do that I do it publicly not hiding from anyone.”
