Kakamega court has granted Senator Cleophas Malala Sh2.5m bond with surety in by-election chaos case.
The Kakamega Senator was arrested on Monday after DPP Noordin Haji directed the DCI to arrest and interrogate him in connection with the violence.
He was arrested alongside together with south Mugirango Member of Parliament Silvanus Osoro after surrendering to police over the recent by-election chaos witnessed in various parts of the country
Senator Malala, on surrendered to police at the Kakamega Divisional Directorate of Criminal Investigations  (DCI) offices following summons over Matungu by-election chaos.
At the same time,Malala’s bodyguard was arrested for alleged misuse of a firearm after he fired in the air to disperse a crowd that wanted to set his boss’s car ablaze.
The senator was also said to have lost Sh2 million in cash which he allegedly intended to bribe voters.
He was grilled before formally being placed into custody.
Chaos was also witnessed in the same area where former Sports CS Rashid Echesa slapped an IEBC official.
